Recap by The Metal Wulf

Fairly uneventful evening all told. David Henninger from Spater dropped by for more promotion of Finger Lakes Metal Fest. Yeah, time is flying, as of this writing the event is just a hair over two weeks away. Doesn't seem possible, but there ya have it!
Also on the Metal Fest end of things, we had Jesse Halstead, who will be singing for two bands at MetalFest this year. He'll be fronting his long-time band HorseFace, who will also be officially releasing their new CD ("Army Of Swine") that very day. He'll also be fronting Stygian, coming full circle from a year ago when that band asked him to be their vocalist following THAT Metal Fest.
Crazy how things happen, huh? Oh, and Stygian will have new music available, as well, to my understanding.

Azkath was also on hand, and proceeded to pummel me senseless when I'd admitted to liking The London Quireboys. Seems one of their songs had come up as a bullet on one of his Russian Roulette shows on The Last Exit For The Lost, and he had to rub it in my face....not to mention beat the snot out of me when I refused to denounce them...
Sorry, love that first album ("A Bit Of What You Fancy"), even 23 years after it's release. I've even done an edition of Randy's Rants talking about this whole debacle, so keep your eyes open on the ol' YouTube channel. I hope to have the latest clip up very soon.

Outside of that, the only really notable events occurred later in the evening. We've had a television in the Stupid Room for awhile, and Josh had been watching some basketball in between talk breaks. After it was all said and done, Eric from Ire Clad turned it to the Disney Channel...and subject us to an hour and a half of some of the lamest programming I've ever seen.
No beef against Disney, mind you. I mean, truth be told, if I had a choice, I'll always go with Warner Bros. and Looney Tunes over anything Walt ever concocted, but hey, it's still fun on occasion to take in some Disney animation.
But their other shows suck. Case in point, this thing that Eric was watching called "Good Luck Charlie"...god-awful...freakin' terrible...
Eric went on to describe to us his dream of recording an album of Demi Lovato covers, only giving it the extreme metal touch...you know, blast beats and such...and if that doesn't scare you, I'm pretty sure he mentioned an interest in doing something similar with the Lady GaGa catalog...
Utterly terrifying...

So, with all that being said, our next show will be No Pants Day. I think that pretty much says it all. Bunch of goofs running around in their boxers, maybe some ladies in their undies as well, you never know.
One thing that won't be making an appearance this year, though, is anything resembling a damned Bronie! Ain't happenin', not on my watch!

Recap by The Metal Wulf;

Not much to say about this particular edition. It was actually a refreshingly calm evening for once!

John Halstead of HorseFace joined us to share some newer demos that will be featured on their next full-length, and based on what we heard, we're very much looking forward to featuring that album on the Onslaught as soon as it's available!

Two members of Disfigured Dead were also on hand to discuss their band and where things are currently headed with them. Very tight, aggressive metal of the extreme variety. Brutal jams, to be sure, check 'em out!

Roc City Roller Derby's Lethal Lorelei was on hand to promote her upcoming birthday bash at the Montage. We hadn't had a chance to talk to any of the Roc City ladies in quite some time, so it was cool to have the time to catch up with her a bit.For those interested, the line-up for her party consists of Setiva (reuniting just for her!), Hate Machine, Beneath Hell's Sky, and Silence Broken. Between some great music and the presence of many roller derby girls, I'm betting this is gonna be a party to remember!

Let's see...above and beyond that, there was a full moon, so I spent the evening pretty much coated in fur, and showing off a little bit of the newer dental work my lycanthropic form has acquired. So far no new photos are available, but give it time..
Definitely a plus that none of the band members seemed uncomfortable having a werewolf in their midst. Which is a good thing, as the full moon DOES occasionally coincide with our show...
All in all, it was just all in an evening's work, pretty much another day at the office for the rest of us!

I believe there was some brief mention about my cat and the fact that at numerous times he has seen me naked. Don't know what the big deal is, I'm pretty sure our pets don't really judge us by our looks, whether we're clothed or not.
However, I DID mention that Mittens likes to occasionally curl up under the covers, and I had to admit that I once...well...Dutch-ovened him...
Really, I completely forgot that he was there! I'd woke up in the middle of the night, turned over, farted, and there was suddenly this rampant scurrying under the sheets, as my cat suddenly felt the need to distance himself from the bed.
Can't say I blame him...

So, our next edition of the show will feature our Top 10 lists for 2012. In a nutshell, this means that absolutely NOTHING will suck, as far as music goes this week!
We may even let Tim give us a brief rundown of what he liked the most in the past year, although I got a little scared when he mentioned something about Rick Springfield...
Tune in and see what made us tick throughout the year, and maybe get a little perspective into what we're looking forward to most in 2013!

April 23, 2011 - Horseface and Spiders...

  • Published in 2011

Recap by The Metal Wulf;

Another relatively calm night on the show. We had HorseFace in the studio, one of the twenty bands scheduled to appear at the 2011 edition of the Finger Lakes Metal Fest. Let me tell ya something, here, their name might be worth of a chuckle, but these guys are all business. Good, solid heavy metal, and I'm very much looking forward to hearing them live on May 21st out on Donselaar's! Speaking of Metal Fest, Caged is scheduled to close the night out, and there was some speculation as to who might make guest appearances in the cages with the regular girls, and I believe it boiled down to either Dave from Spater or Rose from Demoness. I think I'd put my money on Rose... Speaking of guest appearances, we had George in the studio for the first time in... Y'know, I can't even remember the last time he stopped in. I'm almost willing to lay money on No Pants Day 2009. Yep, almost two years ago... Stop bein' a stranger, George!!!

An early discussion focused on something that happened on a number of our Facebook pages last Sunday night. I swear, it was just minutes after I posted last weeks' recap. Just MINUTES, and chaos ensued, covering not only my page, but moving onto Bill, Will, Lindsey, Rick, Azkath, and even the Metallic Onslaught Facebook page! The craziness in question, of course, centered around Croctosquatch. Yes, we've become very fond of this song by Motherboar. Hell, we've actually become rather fond of Motherboar, even going so far as to play some more of their music, this time featuring "Camel Puncher". Honestly, how can you not love a band with song titles like that? "Croctosquatch"..."Camel Puncher"..."Zombie Vomit"...they just kinda roll off the tongue! Ummmm... wait... ewwwwwww... Let's see... Our return from our weekly visit to Tim Horton's/ Cold Stone Creamery found us hearing part of a talk break (yes, we stay tuned in when we're not there) that mentioned a spider in the studio. Guess who doesn't particularly care for spiders? So, of course, after returning to the studio, I was very leary about any presence of arachnid activity. Truth is, Bill's not wild about them, either, so as long as they weren't in the Stupid Room, we were fine. Something really strange has occurred in the meantime, though. Something to do with my former smoking habit, which I'm happy to report is STILL a former habit, outside of a couple of minor slips.
Anyhoo, the strange part is that cigarettes suddenly look like spiders to me. Big, black, hairy, bloated, eight-legged aberrations of nature. Now, can you imagine how that looks when you see someone actually smoking? I mean, it's WEIRD!!!! People open a pack, pop a smoke in their mouths, light it, and all I see is a burning spider in their mouths! Honestly, what in the HELL is goin' on here? Apparently Azkath's "negative reinforcement" techniques have moved onto some bizarre form of aversion therapy. And, even crazier, IT'S WORKING!!!
