Recap by The Metal Wulf;
So, before I get into the details of this week's shenanigans, I want to take a few moments to mention some truly outstanding music that we've been featuring lately.

I'm loving what I've heard from the new 3 Inches Of Blood so far, and definitely will be taking in more, very soon. Blue Snaggletooth is more than worth a listen, for those who like that groove-heavy stoner-rock/metal style, and I'm very much looking forward to taking a closer listen to Behold The Monolith's latest. The biggest stand-out among the latest crop of discs, though, is Overkill's "The Electric Age". This disc is damned near perfect from front to back, absolutely no filler at all, just one classic thrash metal moment after another.

I'm probably going to piss off some people by stating this, but I'm dead seriouis when I say that this album pretty much shits all over everything Metallica has recorded since 1991. Lars and Co. would do well to take a listen and maybe get a reminder of what quality thrash metal REALLY sounds like.

But, that's just MY opinion. Check the album out and draw your own conclusions, by all means...

So, with that being said, let us move onto the craziness that was Friday night's show!

An early discussion centered on the recently-announced Darien Lake stop of "The Tour", featuring co-headlining sets from KISS and Motley Crue, a show that will probably rape your wallet, considering the shoddy state of the economy. If you can afford the just-under-$200 ticket price for this event, good for you. Me, I'll just relish the fact that I've already seen Crue three times (two of those times on some of their most famous tours...) and also the fact that I've seen the ORIGINAL line-up of KISS, not this pseudo-KISS that features only two original members and two (albeit talented...) identity thieves.

Oooops, did I say that?

Anyhoo, let's face it. For that kind of money, those who want to ride Tommy Lee's roller coaster drum kit should get to do so, not to mention take over for Vince in the vocal department. You probably can't do much worse, believe me. (No disrespect to Vince, his live vocals have just never been that strong, it's a plain fact).

Joe spent a few moments lamenting the fact that Iron Maiden has just released a CD version of En Vivo, which had previously been released in DVD format. I'm guessing that Joe feels Iron Maiden releases far too much material, especially live stuff. Personally, I wouldn't complain, because I've seen most of their live concert releases, and they never disappoint. Just my opinion, though!

There was a brief discussion of how their aren't enough Cannibal Corpse tracks available for Rock Band. I'm personally not sure how I feel about that, because Hammer Smashed Face is pretty damned torturous, and I don't know if my fingers would survive any more than that. But, hey, I'm sure there are those who'd love to see some full-album DLC made available!

Something was mentioned about that wondrous new "miracle meat" known as Pink Slime, a substance that has personally put me off wanting to even look at ground beef for the foreseeable future. I'll stick with the things I can honestly identify as meat. You know, steaks...pork chops...chicken breasts...Seriously, anyone who has ever seen Soilent Green should maybe lose just a TINY bit of sleep over what this alien pink goo really is. Or not.

After reviewing our usual list of upcoming shows, I decided to share info about the not-so-epic line-up of shows coming to the shell at Canandaigua this year. Yep, once again, for the second year straight, CMAC seems to be shying away from anything resembling a good rock show. Good thing there's some solid club shows coming up, as well as some truly choice events coming to Darien Lake this summer, otherwise I'd be really saddened at the lack of shows to attend in the coming months. I'd like to stress, though, that I'm not actually knocking CMAC's selection of quality artists for the season. There is some very sold talent coming, if you're into country music or jam bands. What I AM knocking, however, is their ability to book good rock shows over the past couple of seasons. I mean, c'mon, it was only three short years ago that Judas Priest played there, alongside Whitesnake, to a packed house! Not to mention Shinedown headlining Carnival Of Madness two years ago. And those are just shows that I personally attended! What the hell has happened since 2010 that's made them shy away from a good rock package? I don't think we're asking for much, here, and there's plenty of options they could be pursuing.Oh well, as I said last year, it's more money in my pocket that can be put toward club shows and local bands. Given the choice, I'd rather just continue supporting the local scene, anyway.

Moving right along...

Raven and Foul Mouth Girl were in attendance once again, as was another Jeffie. We'd all figured that this was just another clone sent by the Demon Azkath, but I guess that's not the case this time. Seems that Raven did a little tampering with the corpse of the Jeffie that she killed a few weeks ago, bringing him back to life and...ummmm..."re-programming" him, as such, creating a...new and..."improved"...Jeffie.

As it stands, Jeffie seems much more child-like, more like a pet than anything else. He definitely likes to sit on people's laps, going from person to person, much to our dismay. Oh, and I'm pretty sure we were all referred to as his "groupies" at one point or another, which is just really, REEEEAAAALLLY wrong...

I will say this, Jeffie still likes his bananas, sticking a couple in his pants and prompting a couple verses of the corresponding song. ("I've got bananas in my pants!") Of course, once they'd been down his pants, there was absolutely no chance of anybody else wanting to eat them. Oh, he was also inserting banana fragments into his nostrils, which I'm pretty sure he never used to do...

I can't remember who it was who said it, but something was mentioned about bananas and cheese being a very bad combination...and I'm strongly inclined to agree with that.

Other humorous moments came when Raven convinced Jeffie that Rick was on fire, making Jeffie run to Rick's assistance in a hurry! Not that Rick seemed overly appreciatvie, considering that he wasn't even in the least bit on fire. And it also seems that Raven has taken a liking to the cry of the Sad Whale, which Jeffie was more than happy to once again duplicate for us. And let's face it, it's impossible for me to not join in at those moments. Sad whales are awesome!

So, not to give too much away, but I took a ride with Rick to Ithaca last night to hang with Azkath and Co. on The Last Exit For The Lost. Strange events were occuring to me, and if I feel that it's safe to come out by Friday, I'm thinking our next edition of the Onslaught will be feeling some of the repercussions from last night. Of course, I might just want to sit in my little shell and attempt to NOT relive some very disturbing things that involve horrible Lovecraftian beasts in WVBR's basement...not to mention some confusing issues regarding my parentage...and worst of all, a highly traumatizing case of gender confusion...

Recap by The Metal Wulf;

Before delving into the events from this week, I'd like to take a moment to thank the guys from Malformed for joining us on the previoius edition of the show. It was cool of them to come and hang out with us, and for those interested you can find a video interview with the band on my Metalwulff YouTube page.

Three members of Dawn Of The Apocalypse joined us in the studio on our most recent edition of the show. Very cool bunch of guys, I've had a chance to check them out on a couple of occasions. For those unfamiliar, these guys blend a bit of death and thrash metal with some more melodic styles with some more melodic styles. The resulting combination will more or less pulp your brains. I strongly recommend checking them out live!

Anyhoo, the guys were more than happy to talk about their upcoming slot on the 2012 edition of Finger Lakes MetalFest (Metalgeddon!), and for those interested, there is a YouTube interview with the guys available for your perusal right this very moment. You should check it out!

But, not until you've finished the recap...

David Henninger was once again on hand, as promotion for MetalFest continues. Funny thing, in between talk breaks Dave and I had been offering a little dating advice to Josh. When this was mentioned on the air, Joe scoffed a bit at the idea, but I've gotta say, Dave was honestly providing some sincere words of wisdom. Let's hope that Josh has learned something, and wish him luck in his future dating endeavors. There's gotta be a metal chick out there for him, somewhere!

Let's see, outside of that I can honestly only think of one notably humorous moment to share. Seems that the original, 1980's version of Clash Of The Titans was playing on one of the televisions, so Joe was on a "RELEASE THE KRAKEN!" kcik. That led to a discussion of older times when movies actually had STORIES!!!I know, shocking, isn't it? Once upon a time, that was true, though. Yep, there was a time when there was NO SUCH THING as CGI!!! Before long a discussion was under way regarding some old-school special effects techniques, like Ray Harryhausen's use of stop-motion animation. I will defend that shit to my grave, I swear! Few things beat Harryhausen's work, and I highly recommend the original black and white version of Mighty Joe Young, plus any of the Sinbad films he worked on, as well as Jason And The Argonauts, or his classic work on The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms, not to mention the Ymir from 20 Million Miles To Earth, and who could possibly forget...

Ummm...yeah, just check out the guy's work, he busted his ass to entertain millions, and those films all KICK ASS! End of story!

So, not sure what's on deck for the next show. Wouldn't be surprised to see Azkath and company show up, might even be a new Jeffie in the picture, since Raven pretty effectively killed the last one. Won't be boring, that's for sure!

Recap by The Metal Wulf;
Squared Circle Wrestling (2CW) performer, Muscle Marcos, joined us in the studio for a good portion of the evening. Seems that Marcos is no stranger to The Metallic Onslaught, but it had been quite some time since he'd dropped by for a visit. He was more than happy to bring us all up to speed, though. As previously mentioned, there was a 2CW event held at Suzy's Tavern in Auburn last Saturday night, and I'm glad to say that Joe, Lance, and myself all made it out enjoy it. Marcos had a match with former (WWE-era) ECW wrestler, Colin Delaney. Happy to say they had themselves a pretty solid match, although I hardly recognized Delaney. He's come along a bit from that skinny, pimply, somewhat dorky guy that was getting annihilated from one week to the next on ECW. Also cool to see former WWE Superstar Carlito in a match, not to mention familiar faces like Dewey Murray and Superbeast (who we'd all seen perform with UWF in the past). All in all, it was a fun night, and I'm looking forward to a return engagement, possibly in a slightly more accomodating venue!

Much to our surprise, NeoTheist's Matt Greenwood dropped by just to hang out, which was cool as hell of him. Seriously, if prior guests want to hang with us, they're generally more than welcome, never been a problem! Let's see, what else transpired...?

There was a brief discussion regarding No Pants Day again. Hey, like I've said before, it's approaching that time, like it or not, with just a couple of months to go. Seriously, though, I'd mentioned some plans I have for that evening, which, understandably, made everybody a little nervous. Now, I know everybody involved (especially those who were present last year...) have no reason to trust me, but I honestly have a fun little idea that shouldn't be even the least bit truamatizing...well, maybe a liittle...I mean, it really depends on your level of tolerance...hmmmm...

Honestly, there is no way I can make it any worse than last year without getting us booted off the air, and that is NOT going to happen! Trust me when I say that I have a fun idea that may not even transpire! I assure everybody that, if I can pull this off, it won't be anywhere near as horrific as last year's escapades!

Jeffie had a very bad night. I mean, it got about as bad as it can get for a Jeffie unit, and that means that by the end of the night, he was dead...

Hey, the guy NEVER learns, as I've mentioned (see previous recaps and my "Full-Circle Learning Curve Theory..."). Between tickling Josh, bothering Raven for her Tazer, annoying Marcos, and throwing my fedora on the floor before kicking it around the studio, the guy really did have some punishment coming. And I'm pretty sure he was tanked on bleach again...

We all got in on the beatdown action throughout the evening, with me attempting to put his head through a door before putting him in a sleeper, and Marcos clobbering him with his Shake Weight (yes, the guy comes to the ring carrying a Shake Weight...hey, I've seen worse gimmicks!).

Ultimately it was Raven who took Jeffie out, with a pretty brutal kick to the head. So, yeah, in the closing moments of the show, another Jeffie had bitten the dust.

Not to worry, whether we want him or not, I'm sure Azkath will provide another Jeffie in the coming weeks, and we can look forward to perhaps taking that one out, as well!

Recap by The Metal Wulf;

This edition of The Metallic Onslaught featured NeoTheist in the studio, an extreme progressive-metal act from Rochester. Very cool to have them on board, I'm happy to say they fit right in. Drummer Brady Mentz was even enough of a trooper to take a taser shot to the tush, courtesy of Raven.

Seriouisly, I'm pretty sure the guy volunteered, so that makes a grand total of two guests between the Onslaught and The Last Exit For The Lost who have willingly allowed themselves to be zapped. The other victim being Bryan from Sorrow Of Batavia, who not only took a shot to each ass cheek during one show, but came back the folliwing week to administer a shot all by himself! Which, being Bryan, really isn't so surprising. He did, after all, volunteer to ride to Cold Stone Creamery in Bill's trunk that one night a couple year's back...

Musicians can be sooo silly!

In all seriousness, this band's got some chops and you can hear their latest demo streaming live on their Facebook page. They'll also be celebrating their demo with an official CD release on March 31 at Monty's Krown in Rochester. Check 'em out!

Funny, I don't think the guys in the band knew that we had a reputation for insanity on the show, as they seemed a little shocked when Azkath came out and started beating on me for something I'd said. Honestly can't remember what triggered that particular beatdown, but it seemed to confuse the band just a tad. I assured them that it was all more or less part of a "normal" Onslaught evening.

Speaking of the usuall craziness, in addition to Brady getting zapped, Jeffie was on hand once again. Seems he can't get enough of that damned taser, which I kind of look at this way:

As it stands, if it makes him happy and he leaves the rest of us alone, where's the harm? Let him fry himself silly! (Sillier...?) It's really only annoying when he gets zapped while latched onto somebody else (usually me...and it SUCKS!!!). So, I say we should all pitch in and get him his own taser, and he can sit iin the corner and play with it until he's a smoking, blackened husk sitting on the carpet!

Then, of course, Azkath will just make another...

Oh, remember when i'd mentioned the learning curve as applies to Jeffie? How it pretty much goes all the way around, coming full circle, so there really is NO learning progress? His continued dealings with Raven have more or less confirmed this theory of mine, as she continually beats the snot out of him before zapping him. Seriously, this lady showed some impressive martial arts skills, landing a kick straight to Jeffie's dome at one point. Sincerely, I wouldn't mess with this lady!

Once again, though, there's that whole "full-circle learning curve" thing...

There was further mention of No Pants Day. Now, some may say it's too soon to discuss such things, but the truth is, as of this coming Friday, we'll be looking at exactly two months from that particularly...ummmm, awkward...event. Now, the general consensus seems to be that the only way I can make the night worse would be to go completely naked, which I'm NOT GOING TO DO!

Jeeez, chill already, folks, I'm not that crazy!

As a matter of fact, it was pretty much agreed that I am not only to wear pants that day, but I am to wear DOUBLE pants! Two layers, on the first Friday in May? That could suck, considering you never know what early May can be like weather-wise. Shit, we could have snow on the ground or it could be in the 90's!

I personally guarantee that whatever goes down this year on No Pants Day, it will NOT be me who traumatizes everybody in the building! But, that doesn't necessarily mean we're coming away unscathed...

And besides, look on the bright side. Just a couple of weeks after No Pants Day, there's an even bigger event to look forward to, with that being Finger Lakes Metal Fest!

See, there really IS light at the end of the tunnel!

Recap by The Metal Wulf;

Wasn't much time for craziness on this installment, but it was far from a dull evening. David Henninger from Spater was on hand to share the line-up for this years edition of Finger Lakes Metal Fest with us, and I'm here to tell ya, it's gonna be fucking KILLER! The bar has been raised, and I'm suspecting that Donselaar's might need to reinforce the builiding beforehand. No kidding, the place may not be standing by the time this is over! So, here's the facts as they stand. Finger Lakes Metal Fest will take place on Saturday, May 19. Once again, it will take place at Donselaar's in Cyde, NY and will feature 20 bands on 2 stages. As always, this is a FREE event, the only expenses you have to worry about are gas money to get there, plus whatever you want to bring to spend on merch, food, drinks, etc. Camping is available, in case you overindulge a bit and don't feel like driving home. Just bring a tent!

And, once again, this event will be emceed by The Metallic Onslaught! And now, the meat and potatoes! This year's line-up features the following:

Spater/ Inersha/ Tarantula/ Caged/ Horseface/ Lowkey/ Awaken/ The Untold Lies/ Order Of The Dead/ Hate Machine/ Circus Grenade/ Poetry In Black/ Dawn Of The Apocalypse/ Takken/ Burn Everything/ Stygian/ The Long Cold Dark/ Laestrygonia/ Cassidy Has Cholera/ Armed With Valor

Can you say "must-see"? Really, I can't think of a better show to kick the summer concert season off than this!

Speaking of potential "must-sees", Squared Circle Wrestling (2CW) will be putting on a show next Saturday at Suzy's Tavern in Auburn. Yeah, sounds crazy, but they're gonna do it, and the main event is going to be a STEEL CAGE MATCH! Inside of Suzy's! Still trying to wrap my head around that! All this and more was discussed as a couple of 2CW representatives told us a bit about this event, and more! I'm thinking it's gonna get a little wild in Auburn next Saturday night!

Not much else to speak of this week, besides the excitement over the impending Iron Maiden concert at Darien Lake. They'll be performing their on July 16th, and I really couldn't conceal my enthusiasm over this show. Bottm line, I've NEVER seen Iron Maiden! Every chance I've had to see them, something had to go wrong. Powerslave tour? Parents wouldn't let me attend due to a downswing in my grades...Somewhere In Time tour? College classes and lack of money...Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son? Lack of funds...

You get the gist, I'm sure...

So, yes, I'm keeping my fingers crossed on this one. This could very well be my last chance to see them for a long damned time, considering I'm pretty sure the last time they came around here was Ozzfest 2005...Seriously, between that, Mayhem Fest, and some really cool upcoming club shows, 2012's looking to be pretty damned kick-ass!

Recap by The Metal Wulf;

As promised last week, Josh got his first dose of schooling in the music of Crimson Glory, as Joe played "Queen Of The Masquerade" and "Lady Of Winter". I'm happy to say that Josh enjoyed what he heard, and I'm hoping he'll eventually invest in a couple discs in the future. Just stay away from Strange And Beautiful...

We were also featuring some great new music last night, playing new tracks from Asphyx, Van Halen (not a bad album, overall, worth checking out!), and GOATWHORE!!! I also highly recommend the newest from Orange Goblin, called A Eulogy For The Damned. This one is quite possibly an early contender for my top 10 of 2012. Well, maybe...still got a long way to go!

Had a couple of surprises, the first being a visit from Lance! Hey, I'm gonna give the guy credit, he's been trying to drop in a little more frequently as of late. Granted, on the night of the Tribute To The Past show he didn't appear until the last set of music, but he came down the following week and hung out with Joe and Rick while the rest of us were in either Rochester or Ithaca. It's good to have him hangin' out again!

Lance hadn't been there very long when the doorbell rang again. Couldn't imagine who it could have been in this case, because it was only 10:00 p.m. Imagine my surprise when I opened the door to find Azkath and crew! Hell, normally they wouldn't be in the vicinity until around 11:30 or so! And that's two straight weeks that he's been there early! Could we be setting a new trend? Hmmmm...only time will tell...

Azkath didn't waste any time in busting my nuts about an anti-Rick Santorum tirade that I'd made on my Facebook page. Wasn't just me, though, as a certain article on the internet sparked a great deal of anti-Santorum responses from the metal community. In a nutshell, the article in question dealt with a "war on heavy metal" that Santorum was waging as he continues to gain approval for the Republican nomination. Turns out, though, that the article was posted on a satirical news site, and the whole thing was just a big joke. So, yeah, I reacted a little prematurely, before realizing what was actually going on, and Azkath called me on it. I confess, I'm terribly gullible sometimes...

So, knowing it's only three more months until No Pants Day, the discussion somehow got on the whole man-kini thing again. I jokingly made some references to what I'll possibly do to traumatize everybody this year. Truth is, I can't possibly beat last year without streaking through the studio, and that would probably get us cancelled. I definitely do NOT want that...

So, if anything, I'll just find a cool new pair of funny boxers to wear, or maybe a kilt, who knows...plenty of time to think of something fun!

Azkath departed after a relatively short time, and we're pretty sure it was because he knew Jeffie was going to make another appearance. At one point I took a moment to give Jeffie hell for going on an extended fishing trip without me. Hey, I freakin' love to fish, and I really don't get to do it very often. But, he explained to me that I was left out so that he and Joe could enjoy some one-on-one time... God/Goddess forbid I should come between Joe and Jeffie in their one-on-one time!

Jeffie made up for months of lost time by playing numerous rounds of "What's In Jeffie's Pants", which went abysmally wrong when he decided to try hiding Raven's taser in his pants. Talk about roasted nuts! The smell of burning Jeffie pubes wasn't exactly pleasant, to be honest...

It was actually funny, because that was the only time that he really DIDN'T enjoy getting zapped. Maybe he'll learn some discretion after this...l

Oh, who the hell am I kidding? The learning curve when it comes to Jeffie just goes all the way around, continuously coming around full circle, never really going anywhere. I think I can pretty well guarantee that he'll want to get zapped again, probably soon.

Things just got sillier when Jeffie broke out his dragon hat. You honestly need to see this thing to appreciate it, and unfortunately no photos were taken last night. There WAS some more video filmed, though, so I'm pretty sure some of the footage should feature that monstrosity.

Let's put it this way, somebody referred to him as Barf, The Magic Dragon at one point, and that really does kind of sum it up!

Jeffie also broke out this little kitten hand puppet that he's got, and we all ended up kissing the puppet. Personally, I didn't mind one bit, I've never been adverse to kissing the occasional kittie.

Don't think about it too hard, now...

As the evening wound down, Foul Mouth Girl gave Jeffie a blast of perfume to the eyes, effectively blinding him in the closing moments of the show. It proved to be a bit awkward, of course, as Jeffie attempted to find his way around the Stupid Room, and further blasts of perfume from both FMG and Raven didn't seem to be helping him much.Although those blasts DID help to make him smell better! Honestly, on his best nights, Jeffie smells worse than a Lost Horizon mosh pit, so every little bit helps...

Recap by The Metal Wulf;

So, last night was the first night that the majority of us were all in the studio since we counted down our Top 10's about a month ago. Hard to believe, but true!

Just to bring everybody up to date, Joe had been vacationing in Florida, and he returned in time for last week's show. Bill, Erica, and myself had gone to Rochester that night to watch Cry To The Blind put on a killer show in honor of their latest CD, From Now On. I was able to record about 95% of the show, and you can find those clips on CTTB's YouTube page.

A couple of night's later, Rick and I were in Buffalo to take in Machine Head's show at the Town Ballroom, as well as to interview Robb Flynn, which was an awesome experience all around. The interview went very well (although it is a little hard to see, gotta look into an external lighting source...), and the show was flat-out amaing. If you've never seen them, by all means check them out. Well worth it! As for the interview, it's up on the metalwulff YouTube page and pretty much raking in more views than any other interview we've done in the last year or so.

Anyway, moving right along. It didn't take long to get back into the normal swing of things. Before too long there was a highly disturbing discussion regarding a mysterious mark on my sweatshirt. I'm positive it's just a bleached out spot, but there was some further speculation as to what else could be responsible. What followed was an exchange of double-entendres the likes of which I'd never experienced before. It'll be worth a playback just to hear about Josh's Tide Rifle...

Speaking of Josh, he dropped a revelation last night that completely floored me. I mean, he's the resident Power Metal expert on the show, and he'd admitted that he'd never heard anything by Crimson Glory. Now, bear in mind that just two weeks ago Azkath expressed surprise when he discovered that I not only knew who Crimson Glory were, but also owned three of their albums! For Josh to be unfamiliar with them just floored me! Don't worry, next week we're going to take care of that!

We had Nine Round as guests last night, and they stuck around for a good couple of hours. Now, on their own, this band is a pretty damned tight unit, but there's also a long history of local talent making up this band. Bassist Steve Sarratori and guitarist John Farley in particular can trace their roots back to roughly 1986, contributing their talents to bands like Satin Steel, Diamond Tyr, White Noize, Redezra, and Saint Chaos, just to name a few. Hell, in addition to playing some of their own originals, we threw in some of that classic material as well, which was pretty damned cool, if you ask me!

Had a good time hanging with those guys, hope to have 'em on again soon! In the meantime, there is now a video interview with them up on the metalwulff YouTube page. Check it out!

Last night also saw the return of Jeffie, and I was actually celebrating his return!

For about five minutes...

Carnage ensued in the form of numerous taserings. Azkath had brought Kal along, as well as a new friend by the name of Sheila, who really didn't put up with a lot of Jeffie-style foolishness. In fact, she was the person wielding the taser, which would have been almost impossible to miss if you happened to be listening. Unfortunately, tasering just made Jeffie sillier AND more annoying, and even numerous taserings couldn't seem to keep him down. Also, unfortunately, I got caught directly in the middle of a couple of those taserings, since Jeffie was firmly latched onto me when they happened...seriously, not an experience I'd personally recommend for anybody. Highly unpleasant...

Funny thing: I was supposed to have been Roasted last night. I honestly thought they meant in the comedic fashion. That wasn't the case at all, as it turns out. The Onslaught crew were sincerely planning on roasting me...over an open fire...and having a barbecue...well, at least Josh mentioned that he planned on eating me. Odd, never took him to be the cannibalistic type...

All told, the tasering was about as close to getting cooked as I came, though. Glad to say, I'm more or less alive and well. Still, I might have to stay on my guard in the coming weeks...

Recap by Fire Eater Wizard;
Joe was back, after two weeks absence, he was off shart fistishing with Jeffie, we are quite sure that is where he was, no matter how strongly he protests, you know what they say about protesting too much anyways. Rick was there, and Lance, who hadn't been there in quite a long while, was present as well. The rest of the MO gang was either attending the The Last Exit For The Lost Presents Show, or attending other concerts. Lance has a tremendous amount of knowledge about music, so he gave us a lot of information on musicians and bands, and some humorous and entertaining stories about them as well, one of which was where he read a very funny (though it was not meant to be funny by the artist at all, he is just a very weird individual), portion of something the artist Vinnie Vincent had written about his pets...

Recap written by Randy "MetalWulf" Smith

Not a lot in the way of hijinks for this particular show, which was very much about the music.
So, I'd celebrated my...ummmm...well....sigh...
(46th... man, is that even fucking POSSIBLE? Damn...)
birthday on Tuesday. Not my best moment to be honest, as I was down with a dose of the plague right up through Wednesday. Not the first time I'd been sick on my birthday by any stretch, kinda goes with the territory of being born pretty much right in the heart of the winter season. Still, it sucked, and made me wish more than ever that I'd been conceived in...oooh, I don't know...July...August...hell, even an OCTOBER birthday would be more fun! Halloween-themed birthday parties? FUCK YEAH!!!!
Anyhoo, I'm digressing, so let's get that train of thought back on the right track before we completely derail. We all know how horrible that can be when that happens...
 In a nutshell, by the time last night rolled around, I was feeling much better, and was more than ready to take part in the show we'd planned on having to celebrate my birthday this year.
Many months ago (like, back in August or so...), we'd discussed the possibility of doing something called a Tribute To The Past show, which is something done on The Last Exit For The Lost at least a couple of times a year. The idea is that all the music played is of the old-school variety. Nothing played that came out after 1989 is the general rule of thumb, although the rules can be prodded and twisted just a tad.
So, at the time that the idea was originally breached, it just wasn't a good time. Bad time of year, way too many new releases coming up, but we'd agreed that maybe after the first part of the new year we could give it a try. And, since we always try to do something at least a LITTLE special for each of our birthdays, I decided that I'd like to try this format for mine.
So, we did, and it went amazingly well, if you ask me. It was honestly pretty damned incredible to just sit back and toss song  and band ideas around from that time period (60's, 70's, 80's...), many times surprising ourselves with tracks we'd completely forgotten about, or (for me, at least) being exposed to bands I'd heard OF but never got to enjoy back then (Coroner, Ludachrist, Shotgun Messiah, etc..., ). I think I actually shocked Azkath by having a copy of the first Crimson Glory CD. Actually, we never did get to play anything off of that disc. I'll have to tuck it aside and bring it again on another night...
Over all, the evening was a great deal of fun for all of us. Definitely will have to try that again sometime, especially on a night when Joe will be able to participate. (He was enjoying his final evening of a Florida vacation on the night of this particular show).

Of course, that doesn't mean there wasn't a down moment or two. I admit, I was very, very bad in the relatively early portion of the show. I snuck a Guns N' Roses track ("Rocket Queen") into the mix right around the time that Azkath arrived, which earned me a beating at his hands. Not only for playing G N' R, though, but also for saying I wouldn't be attending his Last Exit For The Lost show. Seems there's going to be a rare performance by Worm Quartet at this show (which will be held next Friday night at The Haunt in Ithaca), but the truth is that Bill, Erica, and I had already purchased tickets to go to Cry To The Blind's CD release show in Rochester.
Yep, Azkath wasn't at all happy to hear that...
Well, what's done is done, and I can only hope that Worm Quartet will not completely pack it in any time soon, because I really WOULD like to see Shoebox perform at least once.
So, yeah, there was a beating in the early part of the night, with my name all over it.
Beatings I can handle, for the most part, though. What I'm really not prepared for are the series of verbal lashings that will be coming my way in two weeks. Seems that Azkath wants to have a Metallic Onslaught Roast, with me as the subject...
Yeah, maybe I'll stay home that night...I think I may feel a relapse of that plague hovering in the wings...
