Recap by The Metal Wulf

Started the evening out getting Hell from Joe. Seems that he was serious about me posing as his body double for a certain birthday party, which he ended up missing because of a banana that he ate. Guess it didn't agree with him...
Hey, what can I say? I thought he was just joking around about that whole body double thing, I swear!
Anyhoo, to placate him, I went ahead and told him my plans regarding No Pants Day 2014. I assured him that he wouldn't have to show up, I'd take his spot, and that by doing so, there was no chance of me ruining the night by running around half-naked again, because I'd actually be HIM, and not me...
He seemed very intrigued by the whole idea, so we'll see how things develop.

Jane Evile joined us in the studio to promote her upcoming gig this Friday night at Women's Right 2 Rock 2014, held in Seneca Falls, right by the canal. Jane's band, A Taste Of Evil, will go on at 10:00 p.m., closing out the first night of the three-day event.
Speaking of Women's Right 2 Rock, Judas Priestess will return on Saturday night, hitting the stage at 9:00 p.m. We're hoping to get another chance to talk with some of the ladies before the show, so keep your eyes peeled for a YouTube interview.

We also had members of both Mercia and Order Of The Dead drop by. They were promoting Mercia's CD release party at the Water Street Music Hall in Rochester this Friday night.
Seriously, between the Onslaught, Women's Right 2 Rock, and the Mercia CD release... that's plenty of things to keep you occupied on a Friday night! If you're not enjoying one, you should take in one of the others, without a doubt!

The only other notable happening of the evening happened when Jeffie returned to get revenge on me for not saving him from floating down the canal in Joe's birthday cake...
Really? Revenge? ON ME? After what he and JustJoe did to me on No Pants Day? That shithead's lucky I didn't stuff him in a crate and toss him in the canal again...
Unfortunately, what DID happen wasn't nearly as cool as that. Instead, there was a very messy beatdown with styrofoam. Lots and lots of styrofoam...hard as hell to clean up, to be honest...

So, I'm pretty sure there will be plenty of discussion on Gigantour, as more than a few of us were present when it rolled into Canandaigua this past Saturday. Honestly, it was a damned good show, and I'm looking forward to hearing what some of the rest of the guys thought!

Recap by The Metal Wulf

Hard to believe, but the year is already half over. Boggles the mind sometimes...

Anyhow, we closed June 2013 out with, among other things, a discussion about one of the acts on the current season of America's Got Talent.

Funny thing...nobody expected death growls to come out of that little girls throat when she started singing. The expressions on the faces of those in the crowd (not to mention the judges...) were freakin' priceless, I've gotta say.

It'll be interesting to see what they bring to the table in the finals...

There was some mention about me being Joe's body double. Yeah, ridiculous notion, I know, but to hear it from him, it would be the most awesome thing in the world. I'd be his stand-in for work...for birthday parties or any other family functions he didn't care to attend...for softball games, on the days when it's too damned hot to be outdoors...

Riiiight...that's gonna happen...

Hell, Joe, I'll even go one better! I'll be your stand-in on the first Friday of May next year, that way you won't have to endure No Pants Day! I'll take the show over that night and nobody will know the difference!

HEHHEHEHHEHEHEH...

We celebrated Fire Eater Wizard's birthday with a special set of music, and capped it off with a very moving rendition of "Happy Birthday", courtesy of me. Grammy-quality work, I assure you...

And, to wrap things up, in the last half hour of the show...well, I don't really remember how this came up...but Josh totally lost it when Joe said something about Turd Ferguson...whoever that's supposed to be...

Honestly...I don't think I've ever heard Josh laugh so loudly without being tickled.

I guess he just finds humor in turds...

Anyhow, on the next installment of the Onslaught, we'll be having Jane Evile on hand. Been a couple of years since her last visit, so I'm betting there's going to be plenty for her to bring us up to date on!

Recap by The Metal Wulf

Birthdays are a sure guarantee of carnage and chaos on the Onslaught, with our long-suffering host Joe Wyatt being the most recent celebrant.
Joe had mentioned the previous week that he'd like a visit from Sloth for his birthday, and Sloth didn't disappoint. Of course, in addition to Sloth, Seriah Azkath, Arydaea Insanity, and JustJoe (from The Last Exit For The Lost) had also joined us for the evening.
As a matter of fact, according to Azkath, Arydaea was supposed to emerge from a cake. Joe was unconvinced, however, insisting that the cake probably had Jeffie in it. Azkath countered with assurances that the cake was too small to have Jeffie in it...but in the end, that's exactly who was in it...
Odd, I would have sworn Jeffie NEVER would have fit inside that thing...yet, he did...sort of...
Truth is, he almost made it out of the cake before he got stuck...and I mean FIRMLY stuck. There was absolutely NO getting him out without a lot of effort on our part.
Which, in the long run, really felt like way too much trouble and energy to expend on his stupid ass, so we just relocated him to another room and let him fend for himself. Truth is, last time I saw him, he'd somehow repositioned himself in the cake so that only his feet were sticking out. I think he may have been trying to eat his way free.
He's fine, though, no worries! I'm almost positive he'll be back without needing to clone him again...

Thanks to Bill throwing me under the bus, word got back to Azkath that I had once again snuck in a cigarette. This led to an attack with the Pooh stick. That didn't sit well with me, because anybody who saw the last video segment to feature the Pooh stick knows where the thing had ended up. Yep, that same Pooh stick that Sloth violated himself with months ago on The Last Exit ended up getting shoved in my face, in and around my nose and mouth area, among other places that I'd rather not discuss.
Yeah, it was pretty bad...

Further birthday shenanigans included a mouse trap toss. Literally, taking loaded mouse traps and tossing them at Sloth's tush. This eventually led to covering a portion of the floor in loaded mouse traps and tossing Sloth into them.

Recap by The Metal Wulf

So, Don Weeks had returned from South America, where he'd been touring with Yes. I may have mentioned that he does lighting for numerous bands and/or projects around the state/country/world. Oh, he was also the original host of what was to become the Metallic Onslaught, in case folks had forgotten that, as well!

In the early going of the show it was actually just Joe and I with Don, as Rick and Josh had taken in some local music in Rochester before heading out for our show.

Had a cool discussion regarding the new release from Black Sabbath. Lotta buzz about this disc, and not all of it is very good. Folks have highly mixed feelings, as some seem to love it, and others seem very disappointed.
Personally, I don't hate the disc. I certainly think there are some flaws, not the least of which is Tony Iommi's guitar just not sounding like what we've come to expect. And it's not just me who's noticed it, others have mentioned it as well. And Ozzy's vocals aren't his best work, either. Kinda lackluster, with a few moments here and there where it almost sounds like he's about to get a fire lit under his ass...and then the moment's gone...
I don't know, maybe it'll grow on me, but after two initial listenings, I highly doubt it's going to be in my Top 10 for this year.
I will say this, however. Just having a NEW Black Sabbath record in 2013...is pretty damned cool from that perspective...probably shouldn't bitch too much...

So, a couple of weeks following our most recent visit from Steve Papagiorgio, I found those copies of Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark, and even recited/sang (sort of...) "The Hearse Song", which is what Steve and I had been singing when that whole topic came up. May have to bring them along when Halloween rolls along...

In the interest of tracking my weight loss progress, Azkath asked how much I was down. Of course, I really wasn't sure of what my weight was when we first mentioned the challenge. If anything, we did establish my initial weight to kick this off as being 356 pounds. Hopefully we're gonna see that number go down a LOT in the coming weeks! Because, let's face it, that cake battle will be far more entertaining between Dave and Jeffie...

And that pretty much wraps it up for this week. We'll be celebrating Joe's birthday on the next show, which is always a fun-filled evening. Don't be surprised if we get a JustJoe visitation, and of course Jeffie won't be able to stay away.
And to think...I've got some unfinished business...with BOTH of them...

Recap by The Metal Wulf

All in all a quiet evening. Well, maybe uneventful is a better word for it, 'cuz things are rarely QUIET, being a metal show and all...

One item of note would be an announcement from Azkath, once again claiming that I wrote it.

Hell, this time I'll take credit for it, why not...
So, here's the deal. I've vowed to lose 50 pounds by the end of the summer. In fact, more specifically, I have to lose more weight than Azkath by the end of summer...
If I don't, I have to go one on one in the cake battle with Dave that we've mentioned jokingly in the past. Which is okay, I suppose, 'cuz if I win, Azkath has to challenge Dave to the cake battle.
Okay, that's not entirely accurate. Azkath is going to have a stand-in, should that come to pass. So, if he loses the challenge, it will be JEFFIE who gets to take on Dave.
And quite frankly, I'm gonna laugh my ass off while watching it!

Recap by The Metal Wulf

This week, we saw the return of Steve Papagiorgio, which was cool, since we hardly ever see him anymore. Always good for a few laughs!
Joe actually seemed a little surprised that Steve and I were getting along as well as we were. Probably because of that whole lawsuit thing a couple year's back. All water under the bridge, though, it's all good! No hard feelings at all!
(Your check's in the mail, you damnable, infernal, blood-sucking leech...hope you blow it all on hookers and get herpes...)
A request for Celine Dion prompted a short musical interlude on my behalf. The beatdowns ensued almost immediately...no big surprise, there...
Azkath had returned to visit us, seemingly a little miffed over the whole Brony thing. In fact, he'd told me that I had a call from that guy again, regarding that stupid My Little Pony convention. I don't remember much about that call, except that my head hurt afterward...a lot...not to mention the bruising...
And to make the evening even worse, Azkath had gotten wind that I'd snuck in a rare cigarette (it really is unusual for me to light up these days, just every so often if the mood strikes me...), and he decided to freshen me up by dumping athlete's foot powder all over me...
And that was where we left things off...

Recap by the Metal Wulf

Anyhoo, we'd previously left off anticipating Finger Lakes MetalFest, which we once again got to emcee on May 18 at Donselaar's in Clyde.

I know, I've said this the past two years running, but it always bears repeating: It's an HONOR to be part of this every year, we can't possibly thank Dave and the rest of Spater enough for allowing us to intoduce the bands, and it's always a good time.

This year's line-up was one of the best in recent memory, not that any have been bad by any stretch. And I've also gotta say, overall, this year's turnout seemed to be better than other years as well, as more people are attempting to come out and hang for at least a couple of hours, if not for the whole event. That just makes me all the more excited for future editions of MetalFest, and I know I speak for the rest of the guys when I say that we can't wait to come back next year!

This night also saw the return of Jeffie, who was really pushing his luck when you think about it. I mean, only a week earlier I had sworn vengeance on both him and JustJoe for the beatdown I'd been given at the end of our No Pants Day show.

In fact, that idiot had the audacity to suggest that I actually owe him money for SAVING me! Yeah, no shit, I OWE HIM MONEY! HAH!!! Yup, good ol' Jeffie is claiming that he "saved" me from my Brony-ism, and that I now owe him money for his services. Which is a load of crap, because if anyone is owed restitution, it's me, and I plan on receiving it, in huge quantities of flowing crimson...

Truth is, his little game of "My Crotch, Your Face" is gonna turn into a round of "My Fist, Your Face". I even told him that I'd be glad to pay them both back. JustJoe will get paid back in Jeffie's blood, and Jeffie will get paid back in JustJoe's blood.

Hey, sounds fair to me! I even suggested juicing them with a wine press, just to be sure I got every little drop...

Recap by The Metal Wulf

Mercia were originally scheduled to join us for a bit, but they're currently in the studio recording their next album, so we'll just have to catch up with them another time.
Matt and Sean from Lowkey, however, were on hand, and brought us up to speed with some things in their camp. Pretty much what you'd expect from them this time of year, hittin' up a lot of the local outdoor shindigs, with TrishStock coming up next. They've got a new disc to support, so you can expect to hear plenty of new tracks played live if you make it to a show. Something I highly recommend, by the way, always a good time!

Azkath joined us once again, and seemed highly miffed at my behavior on No Pants Day.
Which is kinda weird, to be honest, because if somebody should be pissed, it's me...something I made decidedly clear in a little rant I made regarding the beating I took at the hands of Jeffie and JustJoe.
Yep, it's pretty sad when a person tries to come out of his shell, only to be reviled and treated with intolerance and violence. Josh even knew where I was going, as I accused Jeffie and JustJoe of enacting a hate crime on me.
I also swore vengeance on them both...

Above and beyond that, it was pretty much an evening of pumping ourselves up for Finger Lakes MetalFest, which was amazing, as always. The bands kicked ass and we seemed to have a really good turn-out, which gives some hope for next year being even bigger and better.
Enough 'bout that for now, though, I'm pretty sure we'll have plenty to share on the next show!

Recap by The Metal Wulf

Fairly uneventful evening all told. David Henninger from Spater dropped by for more promotion of Finger Lakes Metal Fest. Yeah, time is flying, as of this writing the event is just a hair over two weeks away. Doesn't seem possible, but there ya have it!
Also on the Metal Fest end of things, we had Jesse Halstead, who will be singing for two bands at MetalFest this year. He'll be fronting his long-time band HorseFace, who will also be officially releasing their new CD ("Army Of Swine") that very day. He'll also be fronting Stygian, coming full circle from a year ago when that band asked him to be their vocalist following THAT Metal Fest.
Crazy how things happen, huh? Oh, and Stygian will have new music available, as well, to my understanding.

Azkath was also on hand, and proceeded to pummel me senseless when I'd admitted to liking The London Quireboys. Seems one of their songs had come up as a bullet on one of his Russian Roulette shows on The Last Exit For The Lost, and he had to rub it in my face....not to mention beat the snot out of me when I refused to denounce them...
Sorry, love that first album ("A Bit Of What You Fancy"), even 23 years after it's release. I've even done an edition of Randy's Rants talking about this whole debacle, so keep your eyes open on the ol' YouTube channel. I hope to have the latest clip up very soon.

Outside of that, the only really notable events occurred later in the evening. We've had a television in the Stupid Room for awhile, and Josh had been watching some basketball in between talk breaks. After it was all said and done, Eric from Ire Clad turned it to the Disney Channel...and subject us to an hour and a half of some of the lamest programming I've ever seen.
No beef against Disney, mind you. I mean, truth be told, if I had a choice, I'll always go with Warner Bros. and Looney Tunes over anything Walt ever concocted, but hey, it's still fun on occasion to take in some Disney animation.
But their other shows suck. Case in point, this thing that Eric was watching called "Good Luck Charlie"...god-awful...freakin' terrible...
Eric went on to describe to us his dream of recording an album of Demi Lovato covers, only giving it the extreme metal touch...you know, blast beats and such...and if that doesn't scare you, I'm pretty sure he mentioned an interest in doing something similar with the Lady GaGa catalog...
Utterly terrifying...

So, with all that being said, our next show will be No Pants Day. I think that pretty much says it all. Bunch of goofs running around in their boxers, maybe some ladies in their undies as well, you never know.
One thing that won't be making an appearance this year, though, is anything resembling a damned Bronie! Ain't happenin', not on my watch!

Recap by The Metal Wulf

This past Friday night brought Don Weeks to the studio. Don was the guy who originally hosted our show back in the eighties, and in fact I'm pretty sure is the person who gave our show it's name. He now travels the world as a lighting technician for an assortment of bands, most recently having gone out on tour with Yes.
The man's got a TON of road stories, some of them pretty damned hilarious, which he shared on and off the air. We're hoping to perhaps get him back for a visit, maybe a little later on during the summer.

And, as we continue to close the gap leading up to Finger Lakes Metal Fest (just four days away, as of this writing), Disfigured Dead's Kyle Kratzer (drummer/vocalist) joined us to bring us up to speed with happenings in his camp.
He's definitely pumped for playing Metal Fest, and they've also got a string of tour dates that will be taking them to Las Vegas in the coming months, so I'd say things are going pretty well at this juncture. Can't wait to see what they bring to the table on Saturday!
